The demon slayer hinokami chronicles 2 infinity castle character pass is the simplest way to understand the biggest roster question in this game. It adds seven playable fighters to VS Mode, and it is the part of the Switch 2 launch that most often confuses buyers.
This guide explains what the demon slayer hinokami chronicles 2 infinity castle character pass includes, what it costs on each route, and why it is not included in the free Switch 2 upgrade. It also clears up the roster numbers, because 40-plus and 54 are both used in coverage, and they do not mean the same thing.
The short version is encouraging for VS Mode players. If you want the Infinity Castle fighters, the demon slayer hinokami chronicles 2 infinity castle character pass is the direct route to them, but you must check which edition you are buying, because some bundles include it and the free upgrade does not.

What Is Demon Slayer Hinokami Chronicles 2 Infinity Castle Character Pass?
The demon slayer hinokami chronicles 2 infinity castle character pass is a downloadable content bundle for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba — The Hinokami Chronicles 2. It is also called the Infinity Castle Chapter 1 Character Pass in some SEGA announcements, and both names refer to the same seven-fighter bundle.
The pass is for VS Mode, the game’s versus fighting mode. It does not add a new story campaign, and it does not replace the base game, so you still need The Hinokami Chronicles 2 itself to use it.
The base game is an arena fighting game developed by CyberConnect2 and published by SEGA. It follows Tanjiro Kamado’s journey through the Entertainment District, Swordsmith Village, and Hashira Training arcs, and then opens its VS Mode roster to a much wider cast.
The demon slayer hinokami chronicles 2 infinity castle character pass focuses on the Infinity Castle arc. Five of its seven fighters are new Infinity Castle versions of existing characters, while the other two are fighters who debut through the pass itself.
That focus is why the pass matters beyond a normal DLC pack. The Infinity Castle arc is the current climax of the Demon Slayer story, and these are the versions of the characters as they appear in that arc, not simple costume changes for their older forms.

The Seven Fighters in Demon Slayer Hinokami Chronicles 2 Infinity Castle Character Pass
The demon slayer hinokami chronicles 2 infinity castle character pass adds exactly seven playable characters. Every SEGA announcement and store listing checked for this guide gives the same list, in the same order, which makes this the most reliable part of the whole topic.
The seven fighters are Tanjiro Kamado (Infinity Castle), Zenitsu Agatsuma (Infinity Castle), Giyu Tomioka (Infinity Castle), Shinobu Kocho (Infinity Castle), Akaza (Infinity Castle), Doma, and Kaigaku.
Five of those seven carry the Infinity Castle label in their names. Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Giyu, Shinobu, and Akaza all appear in Infinity Castle versions, which means they are distinct playable versions tied to that arc, not just the same fighters with new outfits.
Doma and Kaigaku do not carry the Infinity Castle label in the pass listing. They are still part of the same bundle, and they still count toward the seven, but their listing names are simply Doma and Kaigaku.
That distinction matters when you shop. If a listing promises only Infinity Castle versions, check that it still includes Doma and Kaigaku, because a genuine demon slayer hinokami chronicles 2 infinity castle character pass bundle includes all seven, not just the five labelled versions.
- Tanjiro Kamado (Infinity Castle)
- Zenitsu Agatsuma (Infinity Castle)
- Giyu Tomioka (Infinity Castle)
- Shinobu Kocho (Infinity Castle)
- Akaza (Infinity Castle)
- Doma
- Kaigaku
One more practical point belongs here. Some characters in the wider game are unlocked depending on game progress, and SEGA’s own Switch 2 materials note that certain characters are unlocked in that way.
The pass itself gives you access to these seven fighters, but it does not remove every progression step in the game. If a fighter does not appear instantly after purchase, check the in-game unlock conditions before assuming the purchase failed.
The Roster Numbers Explained: 40-Plus, 47, and 54
The demon slayer hinokami chronicles 2 infinity castle character pass is often quoted alongside three different roster numbers. Those numbers look contradictory, but they describe different things, and this section separates them clearly.
The first number is more than 40. That figure describes the base game roster, and coverage of the Switch 2 launch repeats it as the base game’s advertised size, including all nine Hashira.
The second number is 54. That figure describes the Switch 2 Edition’s full VS Mode roster, including every character released for the game so far, and it explicitly includes the seven fighters from the demon slayer hinokami chronicles 2 infinity castle character pass.
The third number is sometimes derived by readers as 47, which is simply 54 minus 7. That arithmetic is not a figure SEGA itself publishes as a separate roster count, so this guide does not present 47 as an official roster size.
The honest summary is therefore this. The base game alone is advertised at more than 40 characters, the demon slayer hinokami chronicles 2 infinity castle character pass adds seven more, and the complete Switch 2 Edition roster, with all DLC released so far, totals 54.
That also explains why older June 2026 coverage could already mention 54 characters while still calling the pass a future release. The 54 total was the Switch 2 Edition target roster, including the pass, not the roster available to every base-game owner on that date.
If you already own the base game on PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, or Switch, do not expect 54 fighters from the base game alone. You reach the full 54 only by adding the DLC released so far, including the demon slayer hinokami chronicles 2 infinity castle character pass.
Demon Slayer Hinokami Chronicles 2 Infinity Castle Character Pass Price
The demon slayer hinokami chronicles 2 infinity castle character pass price is clearest on PlayStation. The PlayStation Store US listing for the pass shows $29.99, and that figure is the standalone price for the seven-fighter bundle on PS4 and PS5.
That $29.99 figure is a bundle price, not a per-fighter price. You buy the demon slayer hinokami chronicles 2 infinity castle character pass once, and it includes all seven character packs listed above, rather than charging separately for each fighter inside the bundle.
Individual character packs also exist, because the Ultimate Edition is described as granting access to all the individual character pack DLC released for the game in one bundle. This guide does not quote individual pack prices, because no verified individual price was found in the sources checked, and regional prices can vary.
On Nintendo Switch 2, the pass is most often bought as part of a bundle rather than as a standalone purchase. The digital Ultimate Edition at $64.99 includes the pass, and the physical Switch 2 edition at $59.99 in North and South America also includes it.
The Nintendo eShop standalone price for the pass on Switch 2 was not verified in the sources checked for this guide. That does not mean the pass is free on Switch 2, and it does not mean it matches the PlayStation price, so Switch 2 owners buying it separately should check the eShop listing on their own console.
The PlayStation Store listing for the demon slayer hinokami chronicles 2 infinity castle character pass (https://store.playstation.com/en-us/product/HP0177-PPSA25427_00-HINOKAMI2PASS001/) confirms the $29.99 US price and the full seven-fighter contents. SEGA’s Switch 2 edition announcement (https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/press-release/2026-10-14/digital-ultimate-edition-announced-for-demon-slayer-kimetsu-no-yaiba-the-hinokami-chronicles-2-/.242821) confirms the Ultimate, Standard, and physical edition prices quoted in this guide.
The base game itself also changed price around the Switch 2 launch. SEGA announced permanent price drops to $39.99 for the standard edition and $49.99 for the deluxe edition on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam, and Nintendo Switch.
Those base-game prices do not include the pass by themselves. A $39.99 standard edition on an existing platform is the base game at its new price, not a bundle that secretly includes the demon slayer hinokami chronicles 2 infinity castle character pass.
The Switch 2 Upgrade Trap: What Is Free and What Is Not
The demon slayer hinokami chronicles 2 infinity castle character pass is most likely to be misunderstood on Nintendo Switch 2. The free upgrade is real, but it does not include the pass, and that single distinction has caught many buyers.
Players who own The Hinokami Chronicles 2 digitally or physically on Nintendo Switch can upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition at no additional cost through a free upgrade pass. That upgrade brings the Switch 2 version’s performance and visual improvements, including 60 frames per second support and sharper visuals.
The catch is stated plainly in SEGA’s own announcement. The demon slayer hinokami chronicles 2 infinity castle character pass is not included as part of the upgrade pass, and users will need to purchase the Character Pass separately through Nintendo eShop.
That means an existing Switch owner who upgrades for free will get the Switch 2 version of the game they already own, but not the seven Infinity Castle fighters. If those fighters are the reason you are upgrading, budget for the pass on top of the free upgrade.
The same warning applies in reverse. Buying the Switch 2 upgrade does not unlock the pass, and buying the pass does not upgrade an original Switch copy to Switch 2 on its own, because the two things are separate purchases.
SEGA’s Switch 2 edition details (https://theotakuauthority.com/demon-slayer-hinokami-chronicles-2-gets-switch-2-edition-details-and-free-upgrade/) confirm both halves of this point: the free upgrade for existing Switch owners, and the separate purchase required for the pass. The Switch 2 launch report (https://www.theouterhaven.net/demon-slayer-kimetsu-no-yaiba-the-hinokami-chronicles-2-launching-on-nintendo-switch-2-on-october-29/) repeats the same warning in its own Switch 2 coverage.
Cross-play is one genuine Switch 2 benefit that does not depend on the pass. The Switch 2 Edition supports cross-generation battles between Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 players, so upgrading does not split you from friends who stay on the original Switch.
Switch 2 Editions Compared
The demon slayer hinokami chronicles 2 infinity castle character pass appears in two of the three Switch 2 editions, and comparing them side by side is the fastest way to avoid a wrong purchase.
The digital Standard Edition costs $39.99. It includes the base game and two Character Unlock Keys, for Academy Rengoku and Academy Uzui, but it does not include the demon slayer hinokami chronicles 2 infinity castle character pass.
The digital Ultimate Edition costs $64.99. It includes the base game, the demon slayer hinokami chronicles 2 infinity castle character pass, six Character Unlock Keys, three battle attire options, and a set of Upper Rank Demons system voices for VS Mode.
The six Character Unlock Keys in the Ultimate Edition are for Tengen Uzui, Obanai Iguro, Sanemi Shinazugawa, Gyomei Himejima, Academy Rengoku, and Academy Uzui. Those keys are separate from the pass, and they are not part of the seven-fighter bundle itself.
The three battle attire options in the Ultimate Edition are Tanjiro’s Kimono from the Entertainment District, Inosuke’s Kimono from the Entertainment District, and Uzui’s Shinobi Attire. The system voices cover the Upper Rank Demons set of Akaza, Daki, Gyutaro, Gyokko, and Zohakuten.
The physical Switch 2 edition costs $59.99 in North and South America. It includes the base game and the demon slayer hinokami chronicles 2 infinity castle character pass, but it does not include the Ultimate Edition’s additional keys, attire, and voices.
That makes the physical edition the middle option. It is cheaper than the digital Ultimate Edition, it includes the pass, and it skips the extra Ultimate bonuses, which is the right trade-off for players who only care about the seven fighters.
How to Buy Demon Slayer Hinokami Chronicles 2 Infinity Castle Character Pass
Buying the demon slayer hinokami chronicles 2 infinity castle character pass starts with a simple check: do you already own the base game, and on which platform? The pass requires the separately sold base game, and buying it on one platform does not unlock it on another.
On PlayStation, search the PlayStation Store for the Infinity Castle Character Pass for PS4 and PS5. The US listing shows $29.99, and it lists all seven character packs, so confirm that list before you complete the purchase.
On Nintendo Switch 2, decide first whether you want the pass alone or a bundle. If you want only the seven fighters, buy the pass separately through Nintendo eShop after your free upgrade, and check the eShop price on your own console, because it was not verified in the sources checked for this guide.
If you do not yet own the game on Switch 2, the physical edition at $59.99 or the digital Ultimate Edition at $64.99 both include the pass. The digital Standard Edition at $39.99 does not, so do not choose it if the seven fighters are your priority.
On Xbox, Steam, and original Switch, the same rule applies. The pass is a separate DLC bundle for the base game, and the base game’s new $39.99 standard price does not automatically include it.
After purchase, apply the latest patch before playing VS Mode. The PlayStation listing notes that the latest patch must be applied to use the content, and the same advice applies generally, because DLC fighters will not appear correctly on an outdated build.
If you have save data from the first Hinokami Chronicles game or from Sweep the Board on Switch, check for save-data bonuses separately. Those bonuses unlock Academy characters and other extras, but they are not part of the demon slayer hinokami chronicles 2 infinity castle character pass itself.
Is Demon Slayer Hinokami Chronicles 2 Infinity Castle Character Pass Worth It?
The demon slayer hinokami chronicles 2 infinity castle character pass is easiest to recommend to VS Mode players. If you play versus battles regularly, seven new fighters, including five Infinity Castle versions and two debut fighters, is a substantial roster expansion for a single bundle.
Infinity Castle fans get the strongest case of all. These are the arc’s versions of Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Giyu, Shinobu, and Akaza, plus Doma and Kaigaku, which means the pass is the direct route to playing the current story’s key matchups in VS Mode.
Casual story-only players face a closer call. The pass adds VS Mode fighters, not a new story campaign, so if you never open VS Mode, the bundle will not change your single-player experience at all.
Bundle buyers get the best value by accident. If you are buying the game fresh on Switch 2, the physical edition at $59.99 includes the base game and the pass for less than the $64.99 Ultimate Edition, and it is cheaper than buying the $39.99 Standard Edition plus the pass separately on PlayStation pricing.
Existing Switch owners should do the maths before upgrading. The free upgrade costs nothing, but adding the pass separately may still be cheaper than buying a whole new Ultimate Edition, depending on the eShop standalone price in your region.
Players who only want one or two of the seven fighters should wait for individual pack details. The pass bundles all seven, and this guide does not claim that buying one fighter alone is cheaper, because no verified individual pack price was found.
What Demon Slayer Hinokami Chronicles 2 Infinity Castle Character Pass Is Not
The demon slayer hinokami chronicles 2 infinity castle character pass is not the free Switch 2 upgrade. The upgrade is free for existing Switch owners, but the pass must be purchased separately through Nintendo eShop, as SEGA states plainly in its own announcement.
It is not the Ultimate Edition. The Ultimate Edition includes the pass plus six Character Unlock Keys, three battle attire options, and Upper Rank Demons system voices, and none of those extras are part of the pass bundle itself.
It is not a story expansion. The pass adds seven VS Mode fighters, and it does not add a new story campaign, a new arc, or a new single-player mode, so story-only players should not buy it expecting new campaign content.
It is not a confirmed Chapter 2 pass. Some coverage calls this bundle the Chapter 1 Character Pass, which implies more could follow, but no second pass has been confirmed in the sources checked for this guide, and this guide does not invent one.
It is not a cross-platform purchase. Buying the demon slayer hinokami chronicles 2 infinity castle character pass on PlayStation does not unlock it on Xbox, Steam, or Switch 2, because DLC is tied to the platform and store where you bought it.
Finally, it is not a replacement for the base game. You need The Hinokami Chronicles 2 itself, plus the latest patch, to use the pass, and the pass alone will not let you play anything without that base game installed.
